Establishment of Model Technical Training Centres

In this project, ITEES provided both consultancy and training services in the setting up of two Model Technical Training Centres, one in Automotive Technology and the other in Facility Technology, to meet the manpower needs of priority skill sectors in Bhutan.

About the project

Project Scope: In Feb 2015, His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan visited ITE, Singapore to understand the TVET landscape of Singapore, and to learn Singapore’s experience and success in manpower development and skills training.

In Jun 2021, ITEES signed an MoU with Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), Bhutan to establish 2 Model Technical Training Centres (MTTC Thimphu and MTTC Khuruthang) to offer high quality practical-oriented skills training for Bhutanese youths, in the trade sectors of Automotive Technology and Facility Technology.

For the development of the 2 MTTCs, ITEES provides consultancy and training services in the following areas:

  • Leadership Development
  • Academic Development
  • Infrastructure Development
  • Capability Development
  • Quality Assurance

Impact & Outcome: To date, ITEES completed consultancy services for Leadership Development and Academic Development. The remaining consultancy services (Infrastructure Development, Capability Development and Quality Assurance) are in the midst of development and implementation.

The project is expected to complete in the year 2026.
