Establishment of North East Skills Centre in Guwahati, Assam

This was a consultancy project where ITEES assisted the Assam Government to set up a North East Skills Centre (NESC) as a model TVET institution in the Northeast region of India that offers affordable and high-quality skills training to support the manpower needs for the Hospitality and Tourism sector in the north east region of India.

About the project

Project Scope: ITEES provided consultancy and training services from year 2018 to 2020 to the Government of Assam in the establishment of a North East Skills Centre to equip the Hospitality and Tourism sector of the north east region of India.  The range of services included:

  • TVET Leadership development
  • Curriculum design and development
  • Setting up of Training Workshops
  • Training of Trainers
  • Assessment development

The NESC provided practice-oriented skills training through the introduction of the following 4 courses:

  • Beauty & Wellness
  • Retail Services
  • Hospitality Operations (Housekeeping)
  • Food and Beverage Services

NESC was officially handed over to the Government of Assam in July 2022.

Impact & Outcome: 

  • Allows more youths especially those from rural areas to be trained for jobs in the Hospitality and Tourism sectors
  • Enrolment of 400 students per intake

This project was co-funded by the Government of Singapore.
