ITEES provided consultancy services to Industrial Training Fund for the setting up of a Model Skills Training Centre in Abuja, Nigeria, offers 5 technical courses adapted after ITE'S curriculum.

About the project

Project Scope: Following a visit by the senior management of Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to ITE Singapore in 2007, ITEES was invited to conduct a Feasibility Study in Mar 2008 in Abuja, Nigeria, for the establishment of a Model Skills Training Centre (MSTC) to provide industry relevant career and technical education programmes for secondary school leavers and adult learners. In Oct 2008, ITEES signed a contractual agreement with ITF to provide consultancy services for setting 5 Nitec International courses in MSTC.

The 5 courses were:

  • Culinary Skills Western
  • Facility Maintenance Technology
  • Information & Communication Technology
  • Mechatronics (Industrial Automation)
  • Electronics (Computer & Networking)

The range of services provided by ITEES included Academic Development, Workshops Set Up, Capability Development, Leadership Development, Licensing and Quality Assurance from 2008 to 2014.  The MSTC was officially launched in 2011 by the then President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan GCFR.

Impact & Outcome: Thirty lecturers were trained in both Pedagogical and Technical skills for this project. Together, 5 Course Managers, Centre Manager in administration of the MSTC, and ITEES issued over 100 Nitec International certificates to the graduates of MSTC when the project was closed in 2014.
