About the project

Project Scope:

Establishment

The Indian state of Odisha launched a substantial skills upgrading project with the aim of imparting skills to its large youth population and establishing a distinctive “Skilled-in-Odisha” identity. Under the guidance of Odisha’s Chief Minister and the leadership of the Chairman of the Odisha Skill Development Authority (OSDA), OSDA and ITEES signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in November 2017 to collaborate on skills development in the region, culminating in the establishment of the WSC in Odisha, designed after ITE, Singapore.

Management Contract

The goal of this deployment was to place experienced personnel from Singapore in key management roles at the WSC in Odisha, ensuring effective leadership and the achievement of desired outcomes. These management staff would lead and mentor local teams to provide high-quality, market-responsive education, and by the end of the deployment, the local personnel are expected to be well-prepared to take over key positions to manage the WSC independently.

Impact & Outcome: To-date, 7 batches of students had graduated from the WSC and majority had found employment within Odisha, across India and overseas countries.

This programme was co-funded by Asian Development Bank.
