At the invitation of Congolese government, ITEES conducted a 4-day Situation Analysis in Brazzaville to study the current challenges of vocational training and education and to provide recommendations for improvements, in particular the feasibility of setting up a modern skills training centre to equip youths with industry relevant skills.
About the project
Project Scope: At the invitation of Territory Development and General Office of Major Works, Republic of Congo, ITEES visited Brazzaville from 25 – 28 Feb 2013, to study the existing TVET system and to make recommendations for the establishment of Congo Institute of Technical Education (CITE). The purpose of the CITE was to provide proper vocational training through quality curriculum and modern training facilities; produce graduates with relevant skills for employment or self-employment or self-reliance; and offer a wide range of skills-based courses, from Engineering, Info-comm Technologies to Hospitality Services.
During the visit, ITEES met up with the Minister of Major Works and visited the current training facilities, interviewed training staff and students, met up with industry representatives and senior management of the training institutions.
ITEES recommendation was included in the Situation Analysis report that was submitted to Territory Development and General Office of Major Works on 30 Apr 2013.
